Singer Jewel Attacked By Bear While Using Outhouse Toilet

Singer Jewel sustained a puncture wound on her buttocks while using a remote outhouse toilet in Homer, Alaska. Jewel was born Jewel Kilcher and was raised on a 700 acre homestead in wild Alaska. The Kilcher family is featured on the Discovery Channel show Alaska: The Last Frontier, which chronicles their day-to-day struggles living in the Alaskan wilderness.

Cousin Mose

Jewel Kilcher was spending the weekend in a yurt with her cousin Mose and his girlfriend when the incident occurred. Earlier in the evening they had cooked sausages and beets on an open firepit.

“After dinner I felt a rumbly in my tumbly so I strolled on down to the outhouse. I was just sitting there taking care of business and yodeling, as I always do. I actually wrote a song while I was sitting there. Then something bit my butt, and I jumped up and screamed for Mose” Jewel told Madhouse News.

Upon hearing her scream, cousin Mose came running. After she pointed him to the toilet, Mose saw “right there in the toilet hole was a giant bear’s head sticking out” he said. Mose grabbed a pitch fork and chased the bear into the woods.

They then ran from the outhouse and into the yurt, opting to stay inside until it got light. Jewel managed to treat her wound using windex and duct tape. “In the Alaska wild, windex and duct tape can fix any problem.”

Look Before You Sit

Mose was laughing as he retold the story. “She was standing there bare a$$ nekkid icing her buttocks with a cold White Claw. It was funny until that Bear showed his head. Then I almost crapped my pants. The bear was snarling and covered in pooh. It was quite the disgusting sight. Jewel told Madhouse News that she will practice a “look before you sit” policy in the future.
