David Gilmour Re-Records Great Gig in the Sky with Yoko Ono on Vocals

David Gilmour & Yoko Ono. Pink Floyd Guitarist David Gilmour has clapped back at his ex bandmate Roger Waters. Gilmour released a re-recording of Floyd’s “Great Gig in the Sky” featuring Yoko Ono on vocals.  The song was in response to Waters releasing his version of “Us and Them” earlier this week.

The feuding ex bandmates have each been fighting publicly for years. The Floyd hit the fan last month when Gilmour’s wife Polly Samson lashed out at Waters on social media. Samson called Waters every name in the book, criticized his hygiene, questioned his sanity and his bladder control. Waters replied and called her a silly cow.

Dark Side of the Moon

Waters then announced that he would be re-recording Pink Floyd’s classic album “Dark Side of the Moon”. He would be removing all of Gilmour’s vocals and guitar parts and replacing them with fart noises. Waters released a preview last week with a new reworked version of the Floyd classic, “Us and Them”. Waters prefaced it by saying, “Ahhh That’s better now isn’t it. Took all the rubbish out. Speaking of Rubbish where’s Polly?”

David Gilmour then announced that he too would be re-recording “Dark Side of The Moon” and would be hiring a trained chimpanzee to play Waters bass parts. Gilmour then debuted his new reworked version of “The Great Gig in the Sky” featuring Yoko Ono on vocals. Michael Jackson’s chimp Bubbles is playing bass.

Great Gig in the Sky

“The Great Gig in the Sky” is an instrumental piece written by Richard Wright, the band’s keyboardist. Clare Torry was brought in to scat, sing, wail over the music. She gave an incredible performance and the song went on to become one of the best rock vocal performances of all time.

“When re-recording the song I knew I needed Yoko” said Gilmour. “When you need a professional you call Yoko. She did the song in one take and it was breath taking. Much better than the original, she nailed it. Yoko showed up to the studio at 2AM still in her pajamas, hair in rollers wearing fuzzy frog slippers and blew me away. Fifteen minutes later she was done and walked out of the studio telling me where to send her check. And of course Bubbles was flawless as usual. Waters wishes he could play like Bubbles.”

  1. That was laughable!

I’m sorry but you can’t beat the original version, or at least have someone who actually has a bit of talent to do it.
Was Yoko being serious or was it done for fun??? 😳🤭

  2. My god, if she wasn’t human she’d be put out of her misery. Ofcourse the media play a big part in this but come on David…how old are you? Ya’ll still act like in kindergarden.

  3. I am producing a written retrospective on Roger Waters. A film will accompany this. I Have been talking to fans, authors websites magazines, tribute bands and various people that have been connected to Floyd/Waters past and present
I am reaching out to Madhouse magazine (love the satire on Floyd) to inquire if anybody would be interested in making any comments or express any opinions that could be used in the retrospective
I can be reached at barrybingham.bb@gmail.com or on 07877681651.
    Kind regards
    Barry Bingham.

  4. David Gilmours a genius. Roger Waters well? well it’s his way out of the highway and it’s been a long Highway for him after Floyd.
