Happy Birthday Jakob Dylan

Jakob Luke Dylan was born December 9, 1969 in New York City. The youngest of 5 children, Jakob grew up in Greenwich Village. His father Bob was a folk singer who achieved moderate success and was popular in the NYC area during the 1960’s.

Around the age of three, Jakob moved with his family to Los Angeles. Growing up, he listened to punk records from his older brothers’ record collection, including the Clash, the Jam and the Buzzcocks. Dylan was particularly impressed with the Knack, who inspired him to begin playing music himself.

Jakob formed the Wallflowers in 1989. After releasing their eponymous debut album in 1992, the Wallflowers released what would become their best-known and highest-selling album, Bringing Down the Horse in 1996, which featured the songs “One Headlight” and “6th Avenue Heartache”. They went on to release an additional three albums before going on hiatus. In 2012, the Wallflowers reunited to release their sixth studio album, Glad All Over.

Jakob is married and lives with his wife Paige and 4 sons in L.A. His father Bob lives in a van in Jakob’s driveway. Bob has never come to terms with Jakob’s success and has tried and failed at many crazy businesses. Bob has tried to sell Chocolate Molds of his anus and home made whiskey, glow in the dark wall paper and no cal Pizza. They all failed so he sits in the van drinking Manischewitz wine and singing Wall Flowers songs.  Cheers Jakob.
