Remembering Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra

Francis Albert Sinatra was born December 12, 1915 in Hoboken, NJ, the only child of Italian immigrants, Luigi and Maria Sinatra. Frank’s beloved mom once said “my Frankie was 13.5 lbs at birth with a giant bulbous head. It was like delivering a bowling ball with legs.”

Sinatra was the original Rock Star. A life of broads, dames, gangsters, and Jack Daniels. He was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century, selling over 150 million records worldwide.

Nights on Broadway

On November 25, 1938, the crooner was dragged into jail on the charge of seduction, evidently a serious deal back in the ’30s. Sinatra was caught sleeping with an upstanding single woman, a pillar in the community until she was corrupted by Frankie’s wicked ways. How was he caught? They were doing it in a convertible while driving down Broadway.

Besides his many acting roles, Sinatra was the inspiration for the Jonny Fontane character in The Godfather. It is rumored that Mobsters held a gun to Tommy Dorsey’s head in order to get Sinatra released from his contract. They also say Sinatra got the part in From Here to Eternity after mobsters put Harry Cohn’s parakeets head in his bed. It was changed to a horses head for the movie.

Did you know that Frank Sinatra was the voice of Scooby Doo and the cartoon was named after creators listened to Frank singing Scooby dooby doo in “Strangers in the Night”.

Ladies Man

Sinatra bedded down more dames than Gene Simmons. Marilyn Monroe, Angie Dickinson, Mia Farrow, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, Ethel Merman, Nancy Reagan, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Jackie Kennedy, Yoko Ono and Eleanor Roosevelt. The man was a legend among legends and there will never be another Frank Sinatra.
