Elton John & Rod Stewart to Star in Live Action Remake of The Year Without a Santa Claus

Rockers Elton John and Rod Stewart are starring in a Live Action remake of the Christmas classic, “The Year Without a Santa Claus”. Elton will portray the Heat Miser and Rod will be the Snow Miser.

“The Year Without a Santa Claus” is a 1974 stop motion animated Christmas television special produced by Rankin/Bass Productions. The story is based on Phyllis McCracken’s 1956 book of the same name. It is narrated by Shirley Booth and starring the voices of Mickey Rooney, Dick Shawn, and George S. Irving. It was originally broadcast on December 10, 1974, on ABC.

HBO Max

The new Live Action movie will air on HBO Max and will combine the latest special effects, animation and CGI with Live actors. Not many know that a Live action “Year Without a Santa Claus” was attempted back in 2006. The result was so bad that the executives in charge did jail time and were forced to pay restitution to anyone that watched the movie. HBO hopes their attempt at a remake will fare better. 

In the original, the plot involved Santa Claus deciding to take a holiday on Christmas instead of delivering gifts. Mrs. Claus unsuccessfully tries to convince him otherwise, so she enlists two elves named Jingle and Jangle to find proof that people still believe in Santa. You know, Christmas spirit and all that. In the new reboot, Santa is in rehab and Jingle and Jangle must break him out.

The Miser Brothers

The conflicting Miser Brothers: Snow Miser, who controls the world’s cold weather, and Heat Miser, who controls its warm weather have a long simmering feud. Rod Stewart and Elton John have also had an ongoing fifty year feud. It started out as pranks and ended up in arson and gunfire. The frenemies have put aside their differences and hope performing together will mend their friendship. 

“It got off to a rough start” said Stewart. “On the first day of rehearsals I replaced Elton’s wig with a rabid hedgehog”. “Then I put some Ben-Gay in his shorts”. Ozzy Osbourne will star as Santa. Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker will portray Jingle and Jangle. Mrs. Claus will be played by Lizzo.
