The Original Altamont festival was held in California on December 6 1969 and is best known for it’s violence and bad vibes.  The Hells Angels Motorcycle Club was allegedly hired to oversee the concert.  They were given drugs and $500 in beer as payment. It did not turn out well and Altamont was known as the event that killed the 1960’s. Bands appearing at the original Altamont included Jefferson Airplane, Santana, and the Grateful Dead.

The Altamont concert ended with 1 person being stabbed to death and multiple people being beaten with pool sticks. Other than that, the concert was a huge success.

A Stones spokesperson said they learned lessons from the 1969 festival and this time they are requiring wristbands. “I think everything is going to be smooth this time” said Mick Jagger. “What could go wrong?”
