Remembering Dee Dee Ramone

Douglas Glenn Colvin aka Dee Dee Ramone was born September 18, 1951 in Virginia. His Mother, Shotzee, was a German citizen and a cousin to Eva Braun. Dee Dee’s Father, Claude, was a military man and met Shotzee during WWII. Claude apparently traded Shotzee a Hershey Bar for oral favors.

Little Douglas grew up in Berlin, Germany, where he spent most of his time doing drugs and foraging in the rubble for Nazi memorabilia. He would sell the goods to tourists. Dee Dee bought his first Bass from the profits he made selling Hitler’s atrophied penis. Dee Dee claimed to find the penis in the bunker rubble. He sold it for $1500 to Jann Wenner, the editor of Rolling Stone Magazine.

Zero Point Zero

Dee Dee moved to New York when he was 15. Forest Hills, Queens to be exact, where he was named the worst student of all time at Forest Hills High School. His cumulative grade point average was 0.0. Dee Dee eventually formed The Ramones. He played Bass, sang and wrote much of the band’s songs. Dee Dee was an incredible talent and true Rock n Roll Badass! He was declared to be the second cousin of Punk!

One time, Dee Dee was banging Sid’s girlfriend, Nancy, and Dee Dee’s girlfriend Connie walks in. Now Connie was a real pig, a degenerate, a junkie and a prostitute, and those were her good qualities. Anyway she smashes a beer bottle over Nancy’s head and then slashes Dee Dee’s butt with the broken glass. Dee Dee was running down the street naked bleeding from the buttocks. A typical Tuesday at Dee Dee’s house.

The Ramones changed the face of music forever. A once in a lifetime band, and Dee Dee was a once in a lifetime character. Dee Dee died way too young, in 2002. He is sorely missed.

As Legs McNeil once said..Dee Dee was the archetypical fuck up who’s life was a living disaster. He was a male prostitute, a would be mugger, a heroin dealer, a junkie, an accomplice to armed robbery and a genius poet who was headed to prison or an early grave. Maybe even both, but he was side tracked by Rock n Roll. Ok I gotta go now. Dee is Loved & Sorely Missed!
