Pete Best Attacks Ringo Starr at Beatles ‘Get Back’ Movie Premiere

There was an ugly incident at the Hollywood premiere for the Beatles new documentary, ‘Get Back’. Pete Best launched an unprovoked attack on Ringo Starr and had to be restrained.

Best was the original drummer for The Beatles. He was fired from the group in 1962 after playing drums as a Beatle for the previous two years in Germany and England. Ringo Starr replaced Best on August 16, 1962, when the group’s manager, Brian Epstein, fired Best at the request of John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison following the band’s first recording session.

After working in a number of commercially unsuccessful groups, Best gave up the music industry to work as a servant. Best spent many years as a “Gentleman’s Gentleman” aka Butler, or Man-Servant. Pete had to sit by and watch as The Beatles became a world wide phenomenon without him.

Get Back

Fast forward to 2021 to the Hollywood premiere of The Beatles ‘Get Back’ documentary. The 3 part long awaited documentary was produced and directed by Peter Jackson. We think that Peter is one of the Jackson 5, maybe Tito’s real name? Anyway, everyone was dressed to the nines at the red carpet, star studded gala at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

Pete Best was standing at the concession booth eating popcorn and junior mints while chatting with Julian and Sean Lennon. Ringo Starr arrived and immediately handed his car keys to Best joking as if Best was the valet. “The black BMW” laughed Ringo. Best took the keys and threw them into the Orange Julius dispenser. Ringo then yelled at Best “Go get your effing shinebox”. The crowd laughed and Best was once again humiliated.

Best yelled to the Lennon’s “hold him here” and ran off. Pete returned a few minutes later with a handful of drumsticks and drum paraphernalia. He immediately tackled Ringo and screamed at him,”You took my job, dam you. Now you are going to sign all of this stuff and I am going to sell them on Ebay.”

Peace and Love

Pete Best was bashing Ringo over the head with a bass drum and jammed a drumstick up his nose before being pulled off by Sean Lennon. Ringo was not injured and told Madhouse News, “Pete should know Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October!” It’s going to be tossed. I’m warning you with peace and love. I have too much to do, so no more fan mail! And no objects to be signed. Nothing! Anyway, peace and love, peace and love.”
