Hootie Led Police on Low Speed Golf Cart Chase Before Being Apprehended

Darius Rucker aka Hootie or is it Hootie aka Darius Rucker was apprehended after a low speed golf cart chase with police. Rucker was being detained and questioned by authorities within a gated golfing community in Tennessee. Darius took off on his golf cart and police followed suit. They reached speeds of 7mph before Hootie crashed his golf cart into a water trap by the 9th hole. He was then taken into custody.

Rucker was taken into custody around midday just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. He is accused of simple possession/casual exchange of an unknown substance and driving a golf cart with expired registration. The punishment for these crimes in Tennessee is quite severe. Hootie could be facing 7 years in prison.

Hootie Golf Cart Chase

The pursuit began when a deputy spotted Rucker piloting the golf cart, weaving back and forth across the highway near the Del Boca Vista gated community. When officers attempted to stop Rucker, he made an abrupt u-turn into oncoming traffic to ditch the officers. After a long slow speed through the community and over the golf course, Hootie crashed the cart into a water hole. He then continued on foot, attempting to create an escape by using his head to bust through a vinyl fence. After failing to wriggle his bulbous head through the hole in the fence, Rucker was apprehended.

Darius spent almost 2 hours in the Tennessee holding cell before being released on bond. While in jail, Rucker apparently wrote an entire Gangsta Rap album which will be released later this year. The album will be titled “Straight Outta Nashville”. Hootie will take a page out of Johnny Cash’s book and perform at the county lockup. Hootie told Madhouse News, “Just like Johnny Cash performed at San Quentin, I am going to perform at the Nashville County lockup. “It’s going to be epic.”

Hootie & You Know…

Rucker of course was and possibly still is the lead singer of the 90s band, Hootie and The Blowfish. Not one person including Hootie can name any of the Blowfish. Darius has also had a successful solo career as a country music star.

Rucker previously announced that he’s “getting back on the road” with Hootie & The Blowfish this year. The band is reuniting on the “Summer Camp With Trucks Tour,” set to begin in late May and running into September. Hopefully Hootie will be available and not on a chain gang somewhere. Sheriff Buford Pusser commented, “We don’t take kindly to expired golf carts in these here parts. That might fly in Los Angeles but we’ll lock you up for that and we don’t care whether you are a Hootie or a blowfish.”
