Happy Birthday Sammy Hagar

Sam Roy Hagar was born October 13, 1947 in Salinas, California. Hagar’s family worked in the lettuce fields and he lived with his parents and three siblings in a labor camp. He learned to sing while picking lettuce and often sang spirituals to make the time go by faster. His father, Bobby was an alcoholic boxer who held a record for being knocked down 20 times in a single fight, and that was with his wife.

While playing in a San Francisco cover band, Hagar was discovered and recruited to join Montrose. He annoyed Ronnie Montrose and was asked to leave. Sammy then went solo. “I Can’t Drive 55”. Yeah go ahead and try to name another Sammy solo song. Exactly.

In 1985 after David Lee Roth acted the fool and was asked to leave Van Halen, the band tried to recruit Jimmy Buffett and Axl Rose, but they were not available, so they hired Sammy. “Right Now” is a great song, and he is a good singer, but David Lee Roth he ain’t.

Other members of Van Halen confirmed that they have seen Sammy drive 55. And then In 2019, Sammy Hagar was apprehended by the fashion police in Juneau, Alaska.

Capris

Officer Rudy Paulson spoke to Madhouse news about the incident. “I was patrolling my regular beat when all of a sudden I see what looks like a man in a Shakira wig wearing Croc sandals and capris. I said to myself, ‘Oh no. Not on my watch buster!’ The laws are very clear. You don’t wear capris when it’s below 55 degrees; when you’re over 65; or when you have a penis (unless, of course, you’re European).”

Sammy has a staggering net worth of $150 Million dollars. He has been married twice and has four children. In his spare time, Sam enjoys collecting cars, drinking tequila and wearing crocs. Cheers Sam!
