Happy Birthday Chris Robinson

Happy Birthday Chris Robinson

Christopher Mark Robinson was born December 20, 1966, in Marietta, Georgia. He is the eldest son of Claudette and Frank Robinson. Frank was a professional baseball player. As a matter of fact, he was a great baseball player. Frank was elected to the MLB HOF, won the MVP twice and was one of only 14 players to ever win the triple crown. A lot of you hippies, including Chris, probably don’t know what that means. Now would be a good time to look that up.

Young Chris was not very athletic but did enjoy music. He was captain of the glee club and played the triangle in the school band. Along with his brother Rich, Robinson formed The Magic Garden in the 1980s, having been heavily influenced by The Faces and The Rolling Stones. They played a variety of clubs in and around Atlanta.

Magic Garden

In 1989, The Magic Garden changed their name to The Black Crowes. They were signed to Rick Rubin’s label Def American and released their debut album Shake Your Money Maker. With the success of their album they went out on tour to support it. They played one date supporting ZZ Top. During this tour Chris was criticized for talking to the audience about his opposition to corporate sponsorship. He went so far as to condemn Monkey Wax Beard Grooming who were supporting the tour. This led to ZZ Top firing The Black Crowes from the tour.

Over the next nine years The Black Crowes went through many lineup changes and released six studio albums. Chris and his brother Rich have a very tumultuous relationship. They often fought on and off the stage. Punches were thrown, knives pulled, guns drawn and mud was thrown. The band broke up and reconciled many times.

Needing time away from the Crowes, Chris formed “New Earth Mud” “The Chris Robinson Brotherhood” “Eating Crow” “The White Crowes” and “As The Crow Flies”. The brothers are currently in a good place and have reunited the Black Crowes. The band has been touring and has a lot of dates planned for 2022. In light of this news, Mexico has ramped up weed production.

Star Star

On September 8, 1996, Chris married Frank Zappa’s niece, Lala Sloatman. They were divorced September 10, 1996. Robinson then married actress Kate Hudson. They stayed married for 6 years and had 1 child. Chris has stated he divorced Kate after she washed his jeans with his best weed in the pocket. He then married Jeff Bridges daughter, Allison and finally Don Johnson’s daughter Camille. He certainly likes celebrity kids. Cheers Chris!
