Happy Birthday Willie Nelson

Willie Major Nelson was born April 29, 1933 in Abbott, Texas, but his birth was incorrectly recorded by Dr. Vinnie Boombatz as April 30. Dr. Boombatz was known to enjoy his liquor. His parents left and he was raised by his Grandparents. Nelson’s grandfather bought him a guitar when he was six, and taught him a few chords, and Nelson sang gospel songs in the local church alongside his sister Jeannie. He wrote his first song at age seven, and when he was nine, he played guitar for a local band, Bohemian Polka.

Willie was quite the athlete in High School. He was on the football, baseball, and basketball teams. Nelson ran track, was president of the golf, debate and chess teams. He also raised pigs and picked cotton.

Highwaymen

Nelson went onto an incredible career writing, recording songs, touring, acting and more. He formed the Highwaymen with Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash.
