George Roger Waters was born September 6, 1943 somewhere in England to Mary and Eric Waters. His father was the son of a coal miner, a pacifist and a member of the communist party. He later changed his stance on pacifism, joined the military and was killed in battle 2 days later. His tombstone reads “Should have stuck with pacifism”.

Young George was a keen sportsman and a highly regarded member of the high school’s cricket and rugby teams. His nickname was ‘One Ball’ George, after losing a testicle in a rugby match to determine the championship. Waters team won, and he later commented, “I would gladly give up a testicle to win the championship. It’s a small price to pay.”

Pink Floyd

Roger formed Pink Floyd in the mid 1960’s with singer, songwriter and guitarist, Syd Barrett. They released some weird psychedelic albums until Syd lost his mind, Roger took control and David Gilmour joined the band.

It all changed in 1973 with the release of the classic “Dark Side of The Moon”. The album sold 75 million copies and is still on the charts after almost 50 years. Many classic albums followed until Roger Waters became too much of a pain in the arse and the band broke up.

Years of legal battles and squabbles followed. Roger developed an intense dislike of Israel and once at a Radiohead concert, Waters stormed the stage and shocked all in attendance. As part of some strange performance art piece, Waters was dressed in a full Nazi uniform and proceeded to beat and kick a small Israeli boy on stage to the crowds horror. Radiohead singer, Thom Yorke came to the boy’s defense and was quickly horse whipped by Waters. Waters then proceeded to give Yorke a swift boot to the arse. Waters then sang a solo acoustic version of the Pink Floyd classic ‘Mother’ before Thom Yorke chased him off with a sword.
