DNA Test Proves Sammy Hagar’s Ancestors Were Slow Drivers

Sammy Hagar’s Shocking DNA Test. Van Halen rocker Sammy Hagar is the latest celebrity to uncover the hidden secrets attached to his family lineage. And what he found was that he comes from a long line of slow drivers. Yes, thats right, the “I Can’t Drive 55” singer’s ancestors obeyed the speed limit at all times.

On a recent episode of “Finding Your Roots” Hagar was the special guest who was poked, prodded and strip searched by host Henry Louis Gates. Gates informed Hagar that everything he thought he knew about himself was a lie. First of all his name is not Hagar and his great-great Grandmother was a dirty slut.

Sammy Hagar’s DNA Test

Hagar is actually Sammy Belcher. On Hagar’s paternal side, DNA tests showed that he had no genetic links to the Hagar family. The chart literally listed the percentage as 0.0. However, Gates revealed that Hagar’s DNA matched 27 other men all with the surname Belcher. His Father was a Belcher, his Grandfather and so on were all Belchers. It is believed his great-great grandmother was banging men all over town. Belchers, Farters, you name it and she had em.

While that Belcher revelation was a shock for Hagar, the biggest reveal was yet to come. It turns out that the musician’s lineage contained one very important deception. Sammy comes from a family of teetotalers and rule followers. It is very ironic but the hard drinking, fast driving Rocker descends from non drinkers who drove below the speed limit at all times.

Sammy Hagar had his biggest solo hit song in 1984 with the song “I Can’t Drive 55”. He is also known for his love of Tequila and fancy hair dryers. The Belchers however, were notorious for driving very slowly on the roads and driving others crazy. Researchers discovered that Clem Belcher often drove his 1947 Packard in the fast lane of the highway way below the speed limit. Lines of cars were held up behind him but he stood his ground with both hands on the wheel staring straight ahead.

The slow driving went all the way back to horse and carriage times. Jedediah Belcher was hated in the Amish community for his slow buggy driving. Sammy told Gates, ”I’m so happy to know this. This gives me so much mind-chewing — man, my mind’s gonna work on this like a mouse on a wheel of cheese.”
