Morristown, NJ -
Ann Wilson, the legendary singer of the band Heart, has embarked on a solo tour, and I was lucky enough to catch her at The Mayo Performing Arts Center in NJ. The Mayo is located in beautiful downtown Morristown NJ, and is a superb old theater originally built in 1937. It has been completely refurbished and the sound and decor is impeccable. A great place to see a concert.

Ann looked beautiful, and her powerful voice was on point. The band was tight, and everyone came out rocking. They opened with ‘The Real Me’ by The Who, and then into several Heart Classics, ‘Barracuda’, ‘Crazy on You’ and ‘What About Love’.

The show was a great mix of reworked Heart classics, Ann’s solo work, and covers of some of the greatest music ever recorded. The band was having fun and Ann ‘shmoozed’ the crowd with heartfelt back stories to the songs. Ann has one of the most beautiful speaking voices, and I think I would pay just to hear her speak for the evening.

Beautiful, breath taking, acoustic versions of ‘She Talks to Angels’ by The Black Crowes, and ‘I’ve Seen All Good People’ by Yes were followed by The Who’s ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’, and ‘Love Reign O’er Me’. Ann was incredible, and left me with chills.

The crowd was soaking it all up and loving it. We were mesmerized. No one dared to leave their seat during the concert for fear of what they might miss.

Hendrix, The Animals, Aretha Franklin, Heart, Ann Solo, Ray Charles and 2 encores. What more could you ask for? The audience was thoroughly enjoying this, and showed their love with multiple standing ovations. After 2 hours, we were all exhausted but still wanting more, but alas it was time for Ann to go. Until next time.  Go see Ann Wilson of Heart! She will be taking this tour to a town near you for the rest of 2017!
